Life

I missed a Sunday Coffee Break last week because I was out of town for the weekend! I went camping with some friends, and even though it was very HOT – we had a BLAST. Even though I was camping, I got a LOT of reading done. I love reading while camping! That probably seems strange, but for some reason being out in nature makes me want to read LOL. I actually finished two of the books I had been struggling with (as you’ll see below!).

That was LAST weekend. This weekend we spent Saturday night (last night) with some family and had a fun bowling night. We actually got to bowl practically for free because it was National Bowling day. I am a TERRIBLE bowler, and it doesn’t help that I haven’t gone bowling in over a year. My first game I did extra badly and bowled a 37. That’s right, I said a 37! I improved during the second game and ended up with a score of 68, which is still on the low end for me but I was quite happy with that after the 37 LOL. Now my family is thinking about joining a bowling league – I don’t know if I’m up for that! I’m just going to bring them down haha.

Books

What I’ve been reading over the last two weeks!

I finally finished Fire Study while I was camping last weekend. While in the end I enjoyed the story overall, it was such a struggle to get through, especially the first half! This book just didn’t hold my attention very easily. I gave the book 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 on GoodReads. Watch out for my August wrap up where I’ll give a short review.

I also finally finished this book after reading it for what seemed forever. The List was also a bit of a flop for me. It is a middle grade dystopian that just didn’t do much for me, even though the writing and the story were fine. Check out my full review for more of my thoughts.

And I Darken is still my current audiobook. I actually listened to it a couple times this week on my commute – so YAY for progress! This is a reread for me, so I’m just savoring my time with these characters. I need to pick up the pace on this audiobook though – I want to read the sequel! It’s my own fault, I’ve been choosing to do OTHER things when I COULD be listening to this.

I started this book earlier this week and it’s definitely the star out of what I’m currently reading! I was trying to decide what to read next after I finished Fire Study, and I decided to pick this up because #TomeTopple is going on right now, and this qualifies with over 500 pages. This is the third book in the Seven Realms series and I love it as much as I’ve loved the first two books. It’s so refreshing to be reading something that isn’t a struggle to stay interested in – in fact I can hardly put it down! I’ve read something around 300 pages in a WEEK, which is such a huge improvement. I’m definitely on track to finish this before the end of Tome Topple at the end of this week (and I don’t plan on reading any other tomes LOL).

What have you been reading this week?

I’m impressed that you got so much reading done! I always am too exhausted when I go camping to read. πŸ˜‚

Sebastian and I finished up a sci-fi in German (translated from English, lol) and our (re)read of Assassin’s Apprentice. He didn’t completely hate it, so I guess that’s a success?

Camping is such a great time to get reading done because there isn’t the constant distraction of electronics.

I’m not a big camper but I do love reading outside!! And bowling is so much fun, even though I’m not great at it. Ooh Gray Wolf Throne was really good! I think The Crimson Crown is the best of the series actually, it’s a strong finale. Hope you enjoy it!

I only like camping as much as I do because my hubby does all the hard stuff LOL. I just finished Gray Wolf Throne the other day – I loved it but its definitely my least favorite of the series. Just not a whole lot happened I feel like. I’ve already picked up Crimson Crown from the library and I can’t wait to get to it – even though it will prob be a few weeks haha. I’m very excited to hear you say you think it was a strong finale!! Also – love your new (to me) blog! πŸ˜€
